Reason 19 - Philosophical Materialism
“Philosophical materialism—the belief that only physical matter exists—aligns closely with atheism. Atheists who adopt this view reject the supernatural entirely, including gods, spirits, and an afterlife. They argue that everything in the universe can be explained through material interactions and scientific principles.”
Perhaps I’m not understanding; if only matter exists, then what about good and evil. They aren’t physical matter, but we see the results of their existence. Philosophical Materialism is a theory that was introduced by mortal men. Godly men from both Testaments are said to have made mistakes transcribing what God supposedly said thru them. Thus the scriptures cannot be infallible. So what about scientists and philosophers proposing theoretical equations to prove their hypothesis. Couldn’t they also have the potential for errors in their writings? Except Christians don’t believe the prophets and the scribes were mistaken at all.
I happen to believe that the bible is filled with that which the Lord wishes to say to us. Those who do not believe in God or His word or heaven and hell or life after death cling to hypothetical theories constructed by mortal men to explain all things in existence. Seems we’re at a stalemate: Christians can’t prove the existence of God and atheists can’t prove all their theories. Neither can they prove that God doesn’t exist.
Is it not possible that God exists, even though in their mind there is NO possible scenario that would cause them to have doubts. Maybe there IS a God. Just because you don’t agree with or believe something doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not true. It just means you don’t believe it and that’s your prerogative.
It's very easy to just write something off as untrue and move on with your life. It seems to me that atheists in general are comfortable with what they believe and have zero interest in further investigation on the various subjects regarding God. But their disbelief leaves many stones unturned. I mentioned it in previous posts. Where does evil come from? If there is NO God, then conversely there is no Satan. If there is no Satan then where did sin come from? If there is no such thing as sin, then what do we call all the bad that takes place in our world? And who determines what is good and what is bad? What criteria would be used to determine this? People become uncomfortable with things they don’t understand. To rid themselves of their uneasiness they dismiss it as unproven and thus untrue. That sounds pretty convenient to me. Until next time, walk with the King & be a blessing.
