Reason 21 - Exposure to Diverse Beliefs
“Interacting with people from different religious and cultural backgrounds often leads to questions about the exclusivity of any one faith. Atheists may notice that every religion claims to be the ultimate truth, yet they offer contradictory narratives about the divine.”
Okay, full transparency ... I honestly don’t know if any other “religions” besides Christianity claim to be the only true belief. I know Hindus believe all roads lead up the same mountain, which in a nutshell means there are many ways to get to heaven. Christianity declares that the only road to heaven goes thru Jesus Christ. Now this women writer declares that ALL of the world religions “claim to be the ultimate truth”. Regardless of whether that happens to be true or not, they all CANNOT be the ultimate truth.
You can obviously believe whatever you’d like to believe, but men (and women) have a large propensity to do wrong things, bad things. Is that okay? Is it only okay as long as it doesn’t negatively impact you? Doesn’t there need to be one set of clear cut standards to follow? Without an organized template to follow you will eventually end up with chaos. Why? Because no one has a clear cut definition of what is normal, what is right, what is wrong, what is good and acceptable, what is wrong and unacceptable? Who determines this? These are important questions that need answers, but where can these answers be found? They can come from God. Otherwise there is no other option that doesn’t uncover more questions.
The sin question has to be dealt with. If a given religion doesn’t acknowledge its reality and the fact that it must be atoned for, then we end up with the possibility of an anything goes society and that wouldn’t be good. If we don’t need laws, then why do we have police. There HAS to be some sort of structure ... a standard to go by. That standard needs to be universally fair and just. AND it needs to deal effectively with “sin”. You need a standard to know what is right and what is wrong. Believe whatever you want, but only one man gave Himself up as a sacrifice for man’s sin.
As a side note, is it just me or has anyone else noticed that there is only ONE “religious” entity whose name is used as a curse? There’s only one. Jesus Christ. Does that seem odd to you? What is so special about that name that people just naturally use it as a curse word. The enemy has tried to diminish the importance of that name down thru the ages. It’s because it is THAT NAME alone that can save every man, woman, and child from their sin. No other religion offers that. None.
A multitude of religions is serving the same purpose the Tower of Babel in Genesis did, to confuse. There can only be one truth, not a multiple of teachings with elements of the truth within them. You have been given the right to believe as you like, but until you find the answer regarding how to deal with the sin question, you will NOT have found the truth.
Until next time, walk with the King & be a blessing.
