Reason 20 - Disillusionment with Organized Religion
“The perceived flaws of organized religion—such as political entanglement, commercialization, and authoritarianism—drive many toward atheism. Atheists often see religious institutions as more concerned with power and wealth than with genuine spiritual guidance.”
Let me tell you, those are not PERCEIVED flaws, they are REAL. Many churches have come off the rails with the WOKE agenda and it is ruining Christianity. God is real and God never changes. Man’s view of God changes. Satan works overtime to trip up those who believe in the Almighty.
The modern day view of Christianity is tainted. Mainline Orthodox churches; Lutheran, Methodist, Episcopal, Catholic, Presbyterian. They have taken the truths of scripture and made them mean something that was not intended. That which has long been considered sin has been flipped on it’s head. Seminaries have been infiltrated with those who wish to water down the gospel message. They minimize sin by not warning of its dangers and paint a picture of a non-judgmental God who is predominately loving and while He IS the very embodiment of love, it has been taken to the extreme. It’s as if they are phasing out sin and replacing it with diversity, equity, and inclusion to a sinful extent. That which is plainly unacceptable to the man’s Creator has been deemed acceptable by His creation.
Overzealous Pentecostal ministers tend to accentuate spiritual gifts over becoming a Bonafide follower of Christ. Oh make no mistake about it, the church today has many flaws, and while I certainly can understand how confusion can and is leaking into many facets of the church today, the one true standard that stands the test of time is the Bible. If you do not view it as God’s infallible word then that standard can’t help you, but at some point man must decide what he can accept as the truth and what is not. Human beings cannot make these decisions on their own. We are essentially incapable of determining that which is right and wrong. We base our understanding on earthly concepts and sinful practices.
Without God is there really any hope for mankind? Otherwise, where do we find our hope? Is it in fallible man? Is it in false gods that cannot hear, see or act? For me there is NO hope without a perfectly infallible and almighty God who is not seen, yet whose presence can be felt. I know I’m not really answering the dilemma that is the fallible, humanized church, but the answer needs to come from within one’s own heart.
Life is messy and man is massively flawed. Basing our “religious” beliefs on a certain church, or minister, or pontiff, rather than the Lord Himself can and most likely will lead to discrepancies in doctrinal understanding. Seek the face of God and ask Him to reveal truth according to His word. Escalate your trust in the unseen deity Himself for it is HE that we ought to be following and not a denomination or individual pastor.
Finding a biblically sound church isn’t impossible. We need to trust our growing spiritual awareness and go to a church with your spiritual receptors wide open to discern if they are administering truth or bending it to please the masses. I agree with the atheists on this one. The church is flawed, but if you expected perfection from human’s efforts to be the embodiment of Christ then you will find flaws. Refocus. Shift your eyes onto the only one who can remove sin and give you a second chance on a life that is truly worth living. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing.
