THE VIRGIN BIRTH OF JESUS

“Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, the young woman who is unmarried and a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel [God with us].” (Isaiah 7:14 AMP)
Nowadays, an unmarried woman giving birth is commonplace. It’s a sign of decaying morality. Back in Bible times Mary could have actually been stoned as an adulteress.* At the very least, she would have experienced humiliation and shame. Fortunately, Joseph was visited by an angel who cleared up his obvious suspicions that Mary had lie with another man and he relented, agreeing to still be her husband, much to Mary’s relief. The virgin birth of Jesus Christ is miraculous. No man had slept with Mary and had relations with her. The Holy Spirit of God impregnated her to fulfill God’s plan of salvation for mankind. Jesus could have just shown up as an adult out of nowhere and still accomplished the same result, but God chose to do it as any normal human would through natural childbirth. God so chose to bring Jesus to mankind in this manner so as to ensure a sinless life. Having relations with a man prior to marriage would have been a sin, thus making the resulting child a sinner by relation. God chose a virgin for this very reason. He had the angel Gabriel visit Mary and declare the good news: The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:35)
What an amazing event in history. The fact that God would willingly become flesh and dwell among those He had created is unbelievable. He did it for a specific purpose. He did it to save mankind from their sin. Still mankind doubts His very existence and laughs at those who believe telling them they are weak minded. In the end, those who thought of themselves as so wise shall find out that wisdom was irrelevant. Faith in the unseen was and still is paramount and quite necessary to save ones soul.

WALK WITH THE KING TODAY AND BE A BLESSING!

* “Jewish girls of that period usually became engaged when they were twelve or thirteen years old. Actually, for legal purposes this engagement was regarded as the first stage of a marriage, although the girl would normally remain with her parents for about a year before going to live with her husband and consummating the marriage. If she became pregnant before then, she would face public disgrace, and if the law was strictly enforced, could even be executed as an adulteress.” (Taken from www.bible-mysteries.net)
