“This is what the Lord says - your Redeemer, the Holy One of
Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who
directs you in the way you should go.” Isaiah 48:17
The God of Israel is the God of all mankind due to their
rejection of Jesus as the coming Messiah (Romans 11:17). Gentiles1 the world over now have access to the
forgiveness the Lord provided with Christ’s crucifixion, along with all the
promises and blessings that come from knowing Him. So what God says to all of Israel applies to
Christians today.
Paul says to the spiritually arrogant Corinthians not once,
but twice (1 Cor. 6:12 & 10:23) that though it is true they can do whatever
they wish in this life not all things are beneficial or constructive. Since God created us it stands to reason that
He would know us best. If we build
something from the ground up we would know how it is made and everything about
it whether it be constructing a house or a watch. We would know all that went into making it
and all the intricacies involved in it.
Why would it be any different with Almighty God?
The Lord knows what is best for us each day, all the time. This is why we need to consult Him regarding life-changing decisions. We don’t need to ask Him what to eat or what to wear, but where we go to college, what job we take or who we should marry are all areas, to name a few, that God desires to have an influence. He has never failed throughout history and will not start with you. If you seek His wisdom, discernment and guidance God will teach you what is best for you and direct you down the path He wishes you to take. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
