“For the foolishness of
God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human
strength.”
1 Corinthians 1:25
Have you ever met someone who thought
themselves wise? What did you base their
wisdom on, the fact that they knew more than you? The wisdom of mortal man is based on limited
brain function. While there is no
evidence that anyone actually uttered the statement that man only uses 10% of
his brain capacity, the notion may have come from a quote by William James1
(circa 1908) who said "We are making use of only a small part of our
possible mental and physical resources".2 That being said, it stands to reason that if
there is a God who created everything in existence, He would be vastly more
intelligent than those He created.
Have you ever met someone who fancied
themselves strong? Every year ESPN airs
The World’s Strongest Man competition.
These behemoths compete in various feats of strength, like a double big
rig truck cab pull and dead lifting over 700 lbs multiple times, among other
events. These are super strong men;
however, their strength is nothing compared to the awesome power that is
God. Man, on his best day could never
raise a dead man from the grave.
Almighty God did (e.g. Lazarus and Jesus). Man cannot erase or blot out their own
sin. God can through the blood Christ
shed on the cross.
It’s by faith that we believe in God
and it is equally by faith that we trust in His wisdom and power to do that
which we need to have done on our behalf via His Holy Spirit. Until next time, walk with the King and be a
blessing!
1 William
James (b.1842 – d.1910) was an American philosopher and psychologist who was
also trained as a physician. The first educator to offer a psychology course in
the United States.
