“But if serving the Lord
seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will
serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods
of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household,
we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
Today, there are many different belief systems. If Jesus doesn’t strike your fancy, then you
can join those who embrace Scientology and become your own god. Or you can become a Hindu and believe that
all roads lead to the top of the same mountain, essentially negating the need
for Christ and His blood bought salvation.
You can basically believe whatever you decide you would like to believe
but none of that will ever replace what I have chosen to believe is the one
real truth regarding our souls destination.
It
is a proven fact that a man named Jesus of Nazareth walked the earth during the
time period the Bible speaks of. If you doubt that pick up the work of Jewish
Historian Flavius Josephus and read the short blurb he writes regarding Jesus
and the fact that he was just a man, “if indeed one ought to call him a man”1.
Josephus wasn’t a Christian, he was a Roman Jew historian whose writings
included an account of Hebrew history.
Mortal
man will always find a way to challenge the truth so they don’t have to face
the reality of it. Theory upon theory
has risen up in response to God’s existence in an effort to dispute what
believers know to be true.
No
other name in the existence of man has caused such polarization as the name of
the Son of God. Jesus Christ. I’ve never heard the name of Buddha or Mohammed
taken in vain. Jesus Christ. There’s just
something about that name.
You
may choose this day whom YOU will serve.
Take the easy road if you desire; however, as for me and my household,
we will serve the Lord. We have chosen
to believe that there is no other name by which man may be saved from sin. Choose wisely, for your eternal destination
rests on that decision. Until next time,
walk with the King and be a blessing!
1 “About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to
call him a man. For he was one who performed surprising deeds and was a
teacher of such people as accept the truth gladly. He won over many Jews and
many of the Greeks. He was the Messiah. And when, upon the accusation of the
principal men among us, Pilate had condemned him to a cross, those who
had first come to love him did not cease. He appeared to them
spending a third day restored to life, for the prophets of God had foretold
these things and a thousand other marvels about him. And the tribe of the
Christians, so called after him, has still to this day not disappeared.” - Jewish
Antiquities, 18.3.3 §63
