“But
the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving,
considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James 3:17
James, writing to “the twelve tribes scattered among the
nations”, tells us of Godly
wisdom. It is a gift from God that reflects the very purity of the Creator
Himself. He is the abundant original
source of all true wisdom.
Along with wisdom should flow a
peaceable manner, one that is free of a quarrelsome attitude. Even when others try to bait us, we are to
remain calm, almost in a detached sense.
Understanding that all things are either caused or allowed by God for
His specific purpose will assist us in remaining calm. The Lord neither causes, nor allows anything
that would harm us in any way. Each day
is potentially filled with tests of our faith and spiritual lessons meant to
aid in our maturation as believers in Christ.
We are to be kind, gentle,
thoughtful and respectful of others.
Whether we agree or not, we should always listen to another’s
viewpoint. This could lead to a
spiritual exchange that may plant seeds in the other person’s heart.
A wise person is full of mercy and
overflowing with compassion. We are to
stop judging others by their physical appearance and train ourselves to see
through one’s façade into their heart, for that is where a person’s true
character and motivation reside. We are
to be fair, honest and just to all without deception or falsehood.
If we practice what this scripture
teaches us we will begin to resemble Christ in our thoughts, words, actions and
reactions. Until Christ’s Return, walk
with the King and be a blessing!
