“Their
sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”[1]
And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer
necessary. Hebrews 10:17-18
The Old Testament sacrificial system
was instituted by God to shine a light on the sinfulness of man. There was no way man could follow the Mosaic
Law or any other associated laws, therefore the blood of an animal without
blemish was required by the Lord to provide a covering for sin. When Christ was sent to earth He had a
mission. It was to replace the Old
Testament covenant with a new covenant, written in blood. Jesus Christ was the only one who could once
and for all eradicate sin. He was a
spotless lamb for the ages. Once a
person has sought and received the forgiveness of God, they can count on the
fact that He will never remember their sins against them ever again. God isn’t forgetful in that regard, but
rather has chosen not to hold them against the forgiven soul. Your debt has been paid in full. What Christ did for us, annual sacrifices
could never have done. Once covered in
the blood of Christ we are not covered, but instead washed. What existed and was held against us now
doesn’t exist to the Lord.
Such a stupendous gift should not be
taken lightly. God gave up the life of
His Son to purchase our freedom from sin and death. What should we do now? Living for Him is a very good start. Dig into God’s words. Go to a good, doctrinally sound, Bible
believing church and speak to others about the gift that is available just for
the asking. We all do some pretty dumb
things from time to time. Isn’t it nice
to know God’s love is without conditions and that His mercy and patience will
last forever? Until Christ’s Return,
walk with the King and be a blessing!

Jeremiah 31:34 “No longer will they teach their neighbor or say to one another,
‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the
greatest,” declares the Lord. “For I
will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
