“Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8
There is no doubt that our minds can tend to wander on us. We think about problems, conflicts that arise and situations that anger us. Sprinkled into the mix might be some pleasant, positive moments; however, it’s interesting to me that our minds seem to gravitate toward negative things. The injustices in life, the unethical battles we are forced to deal with. Or is it just me? Life can be complicated. It can be unforgiving. It can grate on your nerves and stress you out. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
As we strive to be more like Christ in our daily lives we must train ourselves to focus on that which is all the things listed in today’s verse. If we think on such things we won’t have nearly enough time to dwell on the negative. All the things that surround God are positive, uplifting, just, peaceful and filled with hope. With all the turmoil in the world today everyone is looking for hope. Be that hope for them. Diligently serving the Lord. Push thru obstacles. Don’t lose heart or your faith when tough times come. Casual service unto the Lord is not nearly good enough. We must push ourselves. We must make the extra effort to live like our life matters.
Our lives are of infinite importance to God. He created us for a purpose. He placed his Holy Spirit within us for a reason. His hope for us is that we will focus on those things that will set us apart from this rotting corpse of a world. We must be solid representatives of the one truth by raising Christ’s banner high to the heavens. There are so many things that can distract us. Shake them off and focus. Give yourselves over to the Spirit’s leading and be Christ to those around you. Be the difference in peoples lives that turns them to God. Until next time, walk the King and be a blessing!
