ONE OF GOD’S GOOD GIFTS

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”  James 1:5
There is no shame in asking for help, especially when the help is coming from God.  It can take a humble spirit to admit when you need to consult others for wise counsel.  It can be one or several brothers in Christ who exhibit discernment who can help. The Lord can administer wisdom in that way or he can simply reveal an answer to you thru the Holy Spirit.  It’s takes patience and a discerning spirit to pick up on God’s leading and frankly, many times we’re too impatient to wait for that leading.  We all need to take a collective deep breath and relax.  God has his hand upon us and shares wisdom with us at the appropriate time.
Wisdom is the ability to correctly judge a situation.  It can also be something as simple as common sense.  We shouldn’t take for granted that we are all born with common sense.  While it’s something that we can inherently have, it’s also something we can be taught as well.  In God’s economy it doesn’t pay to rush thru anything.  Take a deep breath, exhale, give thought to the goodness of the Lord and wait.  We needn’t be in a hurry.  Seeking wisdom from God requires us to both wait and listen with our spiritual ears.   He will impart wisdom how he sees fit & when he knows the time is right.
How do we know the Lord wants to give us wisdom?  Jesus addresses this question in Matthew 7:11 when he says:  “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.” Since wisdom would be considered a “good gift” from God you can be assured that he will grant it to all who ask for it. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
