“It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence
those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. For you are
free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do
evil.” - 1 Peter 2:15-16 NLT
There are many times in our life we ask the question “what is God’s
will for me?” Here is one statement by the Apostle Peter as moved upon by the
Holy Spirit that answers that question. We are to live an honorable life and in
so doing silence our accusers.
We are
given freedom in Christ but that freedom isn’t necessarily to do as we please.
God wishes us to use our freedom to serve him with a spirit of eagerness and
excitement. We are serving Almighty God, not some mortal being with limited resources
at his disposal. We are free from religious rules and eternal guilt and are now
operating under the umbrella of God’s glorious favor.
One
thing we should never do is use our freedom to do evil deeds. Scripture is
clear what things to avoid. We must be stronger than the temptations that
surround us. Serve the Lord with a willing heart and continue to seek his
will for you. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
