“From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. ‘You do not want to leave too, do you?’ Jesus asked the Twelve. Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” – John 6:66-69
When faith kicks in and a person realizes for the first time that God is real and Jesus is the way to salvation, exhilaration fills their soul and their spirit is ignited. Time and life’s circumstances will test that exuberance. Difficult teachings from scripture may give them reason to give pause, leading them to question their beliefs. However, when push comes to shove, that person will no doubt echo the words uttered by Peter; ‘Where else can we go? To whom shall we turn?’ Christ, the giver of life, is the only one who has come and is coming that can wash away the sins of the past and make a person brand new. He alone allows a person a ‘do over’; a second chance. Peter realized that Jesus of Nazareth was God’s Son; the only One we can turn to for forgiveness, peace and hope. Do you?
