“The prayer of a
righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16b)
The righteous James speaks of are
those who have entered into a covenant relationship with God through salvation
by the blood of Christ. Their sins
forgiven, they are in right standing with God and considered by Him to be
righteous.
There is power in prayer. When we seek the Lord with regards to
anything we can know that He hears us and will act on our behalf. How can we know that? I defy anyone to find one example where God
failed to do anything He has promised in His word to do. You won’t find it.
Our prayers aren’t to be
self-serving, but rather requests for others in need of assistance or specific
attributes we may need. God has our best
interests at heart always. God knows our
needs and has promised to meet each and every one of them. So many times we ask for things He is already
committed to providing for us. Instead,
we should seek wisdom or boldness or discernment regarding a given situation. When all our natural resources are depleted
we have one arrow left in our quiver that is infinitely powerful and
effective. It is prayer. Remember, one word from God and everything
can change in an instant. Until next
time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
