“Do not be
anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which
transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
We
make requests of God and then become anxious upon not receiving our answer
within the time frame we feel we should receive it. The Lord tells us to be at peace. For those of us that live in the realm of
‘seeing is believing’, this is very difficult.
We desperately need to find peace in many a situation, yet it eludes us
due to wavering faith. We become so
bound to what we can see that we what we cannot see becomes to us an
illusion. We must refocus and fix our
eyes on the author and finisher of our faith.
Our Lord doesn’t wish for us to be unsettled in our belief. Trusting in God, though sheer lunacy to the
nonbeliever, is the mainstay of our faith.
If we will only strap ourselves to the mast and ride out the storm
caused by worry and unbelief we will find that the seas will once again become
calm and everything will work out just as God intended. It’s when we rush ahead of God, thinking we
must take things into our own hands that things go awry. We must learn to rest in the knowledge that
God truly does have our best interests at heart and will not fail or forsake
us. He loves us and will take good care
of us if we will allow Him to. Until
next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
