Is anything too hard for the Lord? Genesis 18:14a
Think
of all the things that you do each day.
Some things are easy, some difficult.
Have you ever come across something that was simply too hard for you to
do? I have. This particular verse of scripture comes from
the dialogue Abraham was having with an angel of the Lord. The angel told Abraham that his wife Sarah
would bear a son in her old age. Sarah
found this amusing as she listened from inside their tent, and laughed. The angel heard her and uttered the words you
see above.
Who is God that nothing is too hard for Him? Scripture tells us He is the Creator of all
things. If He created all things from
nothing, can anything be too hard for Him.
What is nothing? It is something
that has no existence. It is a nonentity. It cannot be experienced with any of our
senses. So if God created everything
that is in existence from a state of non-existence, can anything be too hard
for Him? When you put it that way, ‘no’,
nothing could possibly be too hard for Him.
It would be appropriate to inject the word impossible here. Is anything impossible for the Lord to accomplish? I would also have to say ‘no’; there is nothing at all that is impossible for the Lord to accomplish. That begs the question, why do created beings worry and become fearful when certain events take place? Why do we, at the mention of certain events possibly taking place, lose our peace? The only explanation I have is that we are human; flawed, fault filled mortals who have a need to experience things with our senses before we have any sense of relief.

Having faith in the unseen as if
it can be seen is a daily challenge we struggle with. God, in all His wisdom, understands this
about us. Our faith must be allowed to
grow so that we can reach the place of acceptance and understanding that God
will not fail us, ever … and that makes all things possible for them that
believe (Matthew 19:26; Mark 9:23; Mark 10:27).
Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
