A. WHAT TO BELIEVE ... found in Romans 1:1 thru 11:36.
1. Sinfulness of humanity
2. Forgiveness of sin thru Christ
3. Freedom from sins grasp
4. Israel’s past, present and future
Paul clearly lays out the foundations of the Christian faith. ALL have sinned; Christ died to pay our sin debt and thus forgive all sin; we are united with God thru faith and trust in Him; therefore a new life begins with a new, personal relationship with God. There is no doubt that we will be greatly helped in our faith walk by keeping these foundational truths. If we study Romans closely we will never be ignorant of what to believe.
B. HOW TO BEHAVE ... found in Romans 12:1 thru 16:27.
1. Personal responsibility
2. Personal notes
In this letter Paul gives clear, concise, and practical guidelines for the Roman church. The Christian life is not some abstract theology that is unconnected with life, but rather has practical suggestions that affect how WE CHOOSE to behave each day. It isn’t sufficient to simply KNOW THE GOSPEL; we MUST let it transform us, letting God impact every aspect of our lives.
Romans, simply put, is a guidebook regarding what we are to believe; our tenets of faith. In other words, the life principles we are to abide by to live a life that is worthy of being called a follower of Christ. If you ever needed to know what to believe or how you are to act in a given situation, Romans is the book you should turn to.
Up next are the Mega-themes found in Romans. These will be covered in the next 2 postings. Until then, walk with the King and be a blessing.
