But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:8-9
The Lord moves at a pace that suits Him and not at the pace we seem to think things need to take place. It seems like some things take forever. We need to understand a couple of things: 1) Time is irrelevant to God; 2) His promises are now and forevermore. The patience of God, which is well documented in scripture, is due to His never-ending compassion for His creation. He doesn’t wish that any would perish but that all would receive eternal life through the forgiveness of their sins. We become irritated with delays; frustration is the enemy of patience. The salvation of a loved one is only as far away as their willingness to surrender their will. We must trust the Lord that He is true to His word and will do that which He has promised.
