How many times do we let our own anger fuel a fire that then rages out of control? Proverbs instructs us to be softer toward one another so as to avoid flare ups that can singe our feelings and cause pain. We are emotional creatures and there are no doubt times when we let our emotions get the best of us. My temper is normally kept in check, yet there are certain hot buttons that when pushed will cause my temper to flare up. The result can be that regrettable things are said; things that cannot be taken back. How about you? Has your temper ever gotten the best of you? Keeping our composure under difficult circumstances can help diffuse a potential fire storm of verbiage that can breed contempt and resentment. Using soft, kind words in the face of such circumstances will put out the ember of anger that exists in the other person’s heart. God knows us intimately and cautions us to overlook anger when it is directed at us. We can sidestep confrontation by taking a soft, kind, loving approach. Until next time … walk with the King and be a blessing!
