“All
honor to God, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ; for it is his
boundless mercy that has given us the privilege of being born again so that we
are now members of God’s own family. Now we live in the hope of eternal life
because Christ rose again from the dead.” 1
Peter 1:3
There are certain words in this verse that I
would like to highlight. One is
“All”. To pay honor to God for all
He has done for us should be a no brainer; yet too many folks simply give Him a
head nod and go on with their lives. If
we truly understand the immense price that was paid in blood for the second
chance we’ve been given we would have no problem giving the Lord all the
honor that’s due Him. We need to
understand that God will not share the honor and glory due Him with anyone
else. "I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not yield my
glory to another or my praise to idols.” (Isaiah 42:8) God desires for us to love Him just as He
loves us, without hesitation and without conditions.
Another word I’d like to look at is
“boundless”. God’s boundless or limitless
mercy is what we honor Him for; mercy that knows no bounds. Because of this mercy we have the distinct
privilege of being born a second time, only this time it’s a spiritual birth
into God’s family. Once that has taken place we have access to all the
blessings and promises He bestows upon His family. Finding out just what the
Lord’s promises to His children are would be a great topical Bible study. Do we truly grasp what a privilege knowing
God is?
The last word I’d like to look at is
“hope”. Faith leads us to trust, which
in turn leads of to peace. Having a
spirit of serenity gives one a sense of hope for the future. It could mean we are beginning to grasp what
being a child of God really entails. Let
the world mock us for our faith in an unseen God, we have an eternal home
promised to us that they cannot fathom.
Until they believe and receive the gift of God’s grace they never
will. Because Christ rose from the dead,
we too shall one day rise. For that God
desires all glory, honor and praise.
Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
