THE HANDS OF THE POTTER

Lord, You are our Father. We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand. Isaiah 64:8
Think about a lump of clay.  Can that lump form itself into anything useful?  There has to be someone to mold it, smooth off the rough edges and make it into a vessel fit for use. Accepting that God is the One who molds us is an acknowledgment of His sovereignty1.  He was and is and forever shall be.  He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end of all things. God existed before there was time. Many folks find that to be totally preposterous. I dare say, believing that we came from a one cell organism and evolved into what we are today takes far more faith then believing in a supreme being who created all things.  Frankly, I’ve read that the “big bang” could have been when God said, “Let there be light.” (Genesis 1:3)
If you watch a potter work his clay, you will see how tenderly he molds it, using a wheel to turn it so that the water he generously applies can smooth and gently shape the piece he is making.  If it doesn’t turn out the way he wishes he brings it back to its original lump and begins again.  God, in all His perfection, needs not remold the lump.  Nothing He creates is useless or ugly, but rather priceless and unique.  You are unique.  Just like snow flakes that are all uniquely different, there is no one else exactly like you in the entire universe.
In God’s power and authority He makes us just the way we are and fills our lungs with air so that we can live.  It behooves man to return back to his creator, yet the world is calling him.  Those who are redeemed and have come back to their Maker must show those around them who God is by imitating His characteristics.  Talking about it has its place, but showing them with our life will have a far greater impact. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
