“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.” - Philippians 2:1-2
If we say we love the Lord then we should want to please Him. That’s the way it is with anyone we love this side of heaven, isn’t it? We want to please our parents or our spouses because we love them. So why should it be any different with God? Although perfection in this life is unattainable, it should never stop the believer from striving to be more like Christ in all aspects of their life. This is pleasing to the Lord and what is best for us. God gives us a standard to live by and it is in our best interest to abide by it, not out of obligation, but rather out of compulsion. God should be the focal point of our existence. We should want to live for Him because He died for us. Christ’s death is the heart of God’s grace.
