“Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.” - 1 Peter 3:8-9
It is easy for us to want to repay someone for the evil they have dispensed or the verbal barbs they have doled out; however, scripture tells us to love one another. Sadly, we are talking about the body of Christ, for evil lurks in the hearts of some believers when they fall victim to the wiles of the evil one. Insults fly from our lips as if they had jet propulsion and we are pleased with ourselves because of it. In our effort to keep from being belittled or unjustly criticized we take it upon ourselves to repay evil with evil or insult with insult. This ought not to be. We must have a teachable spirit and learn to make spiritual reassessments often to keep in line with our Heavenly Father’s desires. It’s imperative that we do this, for nothing positive is ever gained through retaliation. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
