Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is said to be a letter that was circulated throughout Asia Minor due to the fact that it isn’t addressed to any specific church and doesn’t have his usual personal greeting at the end. The Ephesian church had dealt with the issue of black magic, cult religions and persecution from the local Jews. Paul is pointing out that there is no other religion or school of thought that offers them what Christ offers for through Christ they already had every spiritual blessing.
Looking at this verse makes me think of how we handle difficulties. If we are to thank God for everything, then we are to thank Him for our difficulties as well as our blessings. That goes against the grain with many of us I would imagine; however, it is in the difficulties that we learn the greatest lessons. If we ascribe to the thought that everything happens for a reason in God’s economy, then instead of wearing a ‘woe is me’ countenance, we should seek the lesson God wishes to teach us. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
