– 2 Corinthians 4:7
The ‘treasure’ Paul speaks of in his second letter to the Corinthians is the gospel message itself and the associated power than comes with it. The ‘jars of clay’ represent our frail human bodies and our weak nature. Our propensity to do wrong rather than right makes us weak by comparison to the awesome power that is God. We have no power aside from God. While we think we have it all together each day, without Christ we are rudderless ships only hoping we are going in the right direction yet never arriving at our destination.
When we enter into a relationship with God, we need to relinquish control of our will. Only God knows what is truly best for us. Even if we made all the right decisions 100% of the time, we would still be lacking for we would still be stuck in the quagmire that is our sin. It is only with Christ and the blood His willingly shed that we can know true freedom and peace that passes all earthly understanding. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
