“We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” - Isaiah 53:6
Sheep are said to be one of the dumbest animals, wandering off from the Shepherd without a moment’s hesitation. It’s no mistake that mortal man is compared to them. We think we know all we need to know to be successful in this life, yet we stumble and fall flat on our face time after time. In His unfathomable mercy, God sent His Son to bear all of our sins so that we might have life. This life God provides is one of complete and total absolution. We stand forgiven if we choose to receive the gift of grace that is waiting for us. Those who reject the gift remain in their sins, but it doesn’t have to be that way. God laid the entirety of our iniquity upon Christ so that we might be free. Christ willingly bore the weight of those sins for our sake. No longer do we have to carry that weight.
