Isaiah was called to be a prophet as a young man to declare God’s word to the stubborn and rebellious Israelites. The word ‘vision’ in verse one indicates that these are words directly from the mouth of Almighty God. This alone carries with it a sense of authority. The Lord tells His people if they turned from their rebellious ways and once again sought Him He would cleanse them of their sins.
Verse 18 has long been associated with the promise to cleanse the sins of the unrighteous through the redemptive work of Christ on the cross. Even today followers of Christ want their own way rather what God knows is best for them. Our hope lies in the fact that our Heavenly Father is willing and able to forgive our stubborn nature and remove all our sins if we submit to His will rather than our own. What an incredible thought that we can have every mistake and indiscretion removed from our record simply by admitting our need of forgiveness and then accepting it. A spotless white garment looks so much better than a soiled one any day of the week, don’t you think? Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
