“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)
Jesus Christ, God’s Son, born of a virgin is the redeemer of all mankind. The word ‘savior’ means that by his death he paid the price required for the souls of men in what should be considered the greatest exchange in history.
He is the Christ child, the Messiah; the anointed one of God. He was Lord for he had all the power, authority and influence of God. With it he could have wiped out the Roman government and released the Jews from their oppressive rule, yet he chose to use it to minister healing, raise the dead and forgive sin instead.
It’s hard to look at an infant and imagine what type of life they will lead, but God knew the things Jesus was destined for and orchestrated everything according to his perfect will. Mankind would never be the same and it was all due to an infant born in a manger some 2000 years ago. Celebrate the birth of the Christ child and worship him for who is truly is – God incarnate.
