“The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.” (Psalm 103:8)
The beginning of Psalm 103 mentions many of God’s character traits. We see action words like “forgives”, “heals”, “redeems” and “satisfies”. What a wondrous God we serve.
In verse 8 we see that He is “compassionate and gracious”. Compassionate in that He is sympathetic to our plight and has genuine concern for us. God’s grace is far more than simply being courteous, kind and pleasant; it is placing upon us His favor, undeserved though it may be. God doesn’t anger easily; we do, He does not. His patience with the creation He made is unparalleled. His love is genuine and everlasting. He is the one constant we can rely upon in a world of inconsistency.
God will never change. He will never abandon us. He will never turn His back on us. He will always be right where He has always been, even during the death of His own Son; on His throne in heaven. He shall love us forever no matter what we say or do and will only cast out those who reject Him and the loving act of forgiveness He freely offers. What a mighty God we serve.
Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
