“I have seen
all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a
chasing after the wind.”– Ecclesiastes
1:14 NIV
Solomon
was the Son of King David. He was blessed by God to become the wisest man on
earth. Thru the years of his life he determined that everything in this life
that didn’t include Almighty God was completely worthless and meaningless. Only
love and devotion to God was a worthwhile endeavor. This was in part because only
God can forgive sin and provide a heavenly dwelling to those who have pledged
their allegiance to him.
If
you doubt the meaninglessness of this life, think about what it would be like
to chase after the wind. You can’t catch what you can’t see. You can see the effects
of the wind, but you can’t see the wind itself. That happens to be an excellent
illustration to describe just how meaningless the things of this life truly
are.
If
you haven’t accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior yet, weigh your options and
understand that the way you choose to belief and the path you choose to take
will only take you one of two places in the end. For those who are already a
part of the family of God, rejoice for your decision to follow Christ shall be
rewarded in the end. We don’t follow for the reward though; we follow because
in the Lord lies eternal truth that cannot be found anywhere else. Until next
time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
