PROPER NOURISHMENT

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 NIV
It interests me that the illustration used here is one of a tree planted by the water. Those who tap into the vast array of resources available from the Lord are like planted trees. According to Jeremiah, the trees aren’t planted just anywhere, they are planted by a fresh source of nourishment … life giving water.
A tree that is planted by a body of water will not shrivel and dry up in the parching heat of the sun. It will draw the life giving nourishment in thru its root system. We nourish our spirit man by drawing wisdom and guidance from the spiritual resources that are liberally provided by our Lord. We have nothing to fear because God is with us continuously. As long as we remain focused on him and not our circumstances we will have the best chance of remaining at peace.
A tree that remains tapped into its source of nourishment will always bear good fruit. So we who remain continuously tapped into OUR source of spiritual nourishment will cultivate and utilize the good fruit of the Spirit*. Stay tapped into the one true source of truth and allow yourself to flourish in the things of God. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!

* Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version (NIV) - “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,  forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
