THE PATH OF GOD

Psalm 18:30 New Living Translation
“God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.”
King David is the author of this Psalm. It is a song that he sang to the Lord when he rescued David from Saul and his enemies. Some say leaning on God like a crutch is only for the weak and faint of heart, but David was a mighty warrior, afraid of nothing. He just knew that the power of God was unmatched. He knew that with God moving on his behalf no enemy could stand against him.
The same is true for us today. If you scour the Old and New Testament you will not find one example where God failed to fulfill one of the promises. His way is indeed perfect, free from any flaw. He enables us to overcome that which comes against us. The key is truly committing your life to his way. While the scripture does indeed say, “believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved … you and your whole household”, [Acts 16:31 NLT] it is insufficient to simply say you believe. You cannot take this or any one scripture by itself to build a doctrine. If you look at the entirety of scripture you will find ample evidence that you are expected to please God with your life.
Here are some ways: 1- Have Faith in God; 2 – Be Spiritually Minded; 3 – Fear God; 4 – Study & Follow Christ’s Example; 5 – Obey God; 6 – Do God’s Will and 7 – Give the Sacrifice God Wants. (Associated scripture verses in footnote.) Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!

Footnotes:
1 - “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).
2 - “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God” (Romans 8:6-8).
3 - “The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy.” (Psalm 147:11) “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Proverbs 1:7) NOTE: In these cases “fear” refers to having “awe” and “respect” or “reverence” for who God is.
4 - “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” (Matthew 17:5).
5 -“Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice” (1 Samuel 15:22).
6 - “[May God] make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen” (Hebrews 13:21).
7 - “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased” (Hebrews 13:15-16).
