“Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that
Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He
died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live
for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for
them.” – 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 New
Living Translation
Dying
to self simply means our interests and desires move to the bottom of the list in
importance. The Lord needs to be preeminent in our lives. We do that for the
ones we love on earth, but hesitate when it comes to dedicating our lives to
the one who gave us that life. It’s natural, I suppose, to seek the things we
do in this life; however, God is asking us to side step all we know or think we
know and allow him to rearrange our life.
What this means is that your priorities begin to shift. You begin to see others as
Jesus does. Being a vehicle to meet the needs of those around you becomes
important to you. So as this New Year
unfolds before you, seek the will of God and make what he wants for you the
most important thing in your life. Until next time, walk with the King and be a
blessing!
