Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly
my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the
truth, and the truth will set you free.” - John 8:31-32
There
are many people who consider themselves Christians. They say they believe in
God and in Jesus, but is that as far as it goes? What has their belief done to
change the course of their lives? Have they submitted to his teachings and
followed them in their lives? A true believer in Christ will make time to read
and then apply his teachings to their behavior patterns. Saying you’re a
Christian while showing no evidence of it is a waste of your time. God seeks
obedience not lip service and trust me he knows the difference. Living the
truth is a relational thing. God says what he says to us because he knows in
his infinite wisdom that it’s what we need most.
It
should be noted that our salvation is not gotten thru the gaining of knowledge,
but thru a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As we commit to his truth
we will begin to change on the inside. External changes are less important.
They may or may not come, but the important thing is that our heart, soul and
spirit be changed. They will begin to reflect the image of the Son.
If
you want to know the truth and live in freedom, know and live the teachings of
Christ. It will revolutionize your thinking and fill your heart with peace.
Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
