So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man on
the cross, then you will understand that I am he. I do nothing on my own but
say only what the Father taught me.
And the one who sent me is with me—he has not deserted me. For I
always do what pleases him.”
– John 8:28-29
While we are not nor will we ever be
Jesus, we have been asked to imitate him. In these verses Jesus the Son tells
his disciples that he only does what he has been taught by the Father. He also states
that he always does what is pleasing to the Father. That is not us. We
struggle daily with doing the simplest things in the name of the Lord. It’s not
like throwing darts at a dartboard. It simply cannot be a hit or miss
proposition. It takes a concerted, consistent & continuous effort by us to
achieve this.
The
Lord is always with us, even when we are unaware of his presence. He also goes
ahead of us to prepare future events that must transpire to bring certain
things in our lives to pass. God is busy at work continuously orchestrating
situations behind the scenes. This is precisely why we must follow the plan
written in scripture that we might achieve that which God knows is best for us
and of most value to his kingdom. He chooses to use us for his glory. Follow
the path of God, not one forged by your own instincts. God has chosen to use us
to proclaim the gospel. What an honor to be used in such a way. Until next
time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
