“Teach us to realize the brevity of
life, so that we may grow in wisdom.”- Psalm 90:12 New
Living Translation
You’ve no doubt heard the phrase
“Here today, gone tomorrow”. Life is very fragile. Without any warning a life
can be snuffed out by natural causes, a serious illness or by someone else’s
hand. We are not promised tomorrow … listen to what James 4:13-14 has to say: “Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow
we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business, and
make a profit.’ You do not even know what will happen tomorrow! What is your
life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
Since
we know life is brief, especially when compared with eternity, we must seek to
live more wisely so that our efforts have the maximum benefit for the kingdom
of God. We must listen for the Holy Spirit when we read scripture and when we
pray. We must allow ourselves to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.
In this life we aren’t meant to coast, but to find our gifts and use them to
proclaim Christ to our associations. We never know when our life will end in
this world, so use your time wisely and glorify God in the process. Until next
time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
