TEMPTATIONS ARE AVOIDABLE

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”1 Corinthians 10:13
Temptations can come from all sides as we all know, but where is God when a temptation rears its’ ugly head? He’s with us always and his constant awareness of our situation, not to mention his promise to show us a way out, takes away any excuse for sinning. I harp on the whole idea of ‘choices’. Every day we make a myriad of choices, some big, some little, some fairly trivial by comparison, but we make them. And we have no one to blame but ourselves if things go array. God wants us all to succeed, but success in God’s economy is very much different than in the world system.
Living in a moral depraved world, the Corinthians were the ones who felt they could do as they pleased because of their supposed spiritual superiority. As Paul rightly responded, they could do as they pleased, but not everything they would do was constructive or beneficial. Think about that when you make a life decision. Does it honor God? Will it enable me to be a positive witness? Would I take Jesus wherever it is I am going to do whatever is it I was going to do? Those are hard questions, but your thoughtful answers may just save you from a very difficult, albeit avoidable, set of circumstances. Temptations can be avoided as long as you allow the Lord to take the lead in your life. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
