MAY ALL MY READERS HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MAY YOU PROSPER & BE IN GOOD HEALTH EVEN AS YOUR SOUL PROSPERS! (3 JOHN 1:2)

“Anyone who belongs to
Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (CEV)
It’s
my guess that anyone would like a do over.
In golf they call it a mulligan.
If you make a horrible shot the rules say you are allowed one mulligan
or do over per 18 holes. As a side note
there aren’t enough mulligans in this universe to make me a good golfer, but
that’s beside the point.
In life there are typically no do overs, unless of course
you are referring to the Christian. When
we receive God’s gift of forgiveness from past misdeeds we have our slate wiped
clean, so to speak. It’s then that we
can choose to either simply walk away, continuing to live as they please or
embrace God’s act of love and mercy. This embracing involves a certain level of
dedication. It’s a deliberate choice we make to follow Christ. We don’t have to follow Christ, but we are can
follow Him. Where He leads only the pure
in heart can follow. Just as He
willingly went to the cross for our sins, we must willingly worship God and
follow Christ wherever He may lead us.
He knows what is best for us at all times and will never lead us astray.
Think of becoming new in this manner: you have allowed yourself to become badly sunburned. There is pain involved and an extended healing process; however, once the damaged skin peels off you have fresh, new, pink skin underneath. All has become new. You may always bear the scar of your bad decision to stay out in the blazing sun for far too long, but you have survived the trial and have a fresh, new start.

When we willingly give our lives over to Christ’s Lordship
we are a new person in the eyes of God.
The newness progresses slowly in reality, but each new day offers us a
fresh new perspective on life. Remember,
Christianity isn’t a religion; it’s a personal, intimate relationship with
Almighty God. Give yourself over just a
little bit more this year to the Lordship of Christ and see what a difference
it will make in your life. Until next
time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
