“… (God) shows unfailing love to his anointed, to David and to his descendants forever.” (Psalm 18:50b)
Unfailing love. The Greeks have a word for it; it’s agape. This is the highest form of love there is. It’s selfless, sacrificial and unconditional. It’s the type of love God has for us. It’s the same type of love we are to have for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
We are anointed of God; tied to Him through the substitutionary death of His Son Jesus. God’s love for us is evidenced by that death. What a wonderful thing God’s grace is. We aren’t getting what we deserve. His unfailing love has saved us from our sins and ourselves.
Do we live as if we have been forgiven of anything at all? Do we comprehend the depth of the sacrifice that was willingly made for us? Does God’s unfailing love cause us to look at things around us differently? Has Christ’s death on the cross driven us to serve God at any cost? It should and it needs to or what did Christ die for. Let us surrender to the will of God for our lives. His unfailing agape love will carry us when we cannot even stand and reveal to us those things that should be most important to us all.
