“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
We’ve talked a lot about love
recently. It’s comforting to know that God’s love for us is steadfast and
unchanging. Unfortunately, even on our
best day, our effort to love the way God does falls way short. That being said, it's still important to have
a standard to strive for.
We Christians seem to have a problem
comparing ourselves to others, when we should be comparing ourselves to
God. How do we stack up against that type of perfection? Are we
attempting to emulate the selfless, unconditional love that the Lord offers?
It’s a fact that we will never be exactly like Christ. Not on our best day … not even close. However,
that’s no reason for us not to try. No
one will ever match the sacrificial love that God has shown and continues to
show to such an undeserving lot, yet as we soak in His love, grace and mercy,
it should make a significant change in us. That change will come from the
inside, generated by God’s Holy Spirit, if we allow it to take place.
It’s true; nothing can separate us
from the love of God. But the question remains how does our love for one
another look in comparison to that? Until
next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
