“Blessed
are those who dwell in your house.” “Blessed are those whose strength is in
you.” “…blessed is the one who trusts in you.” Psalm
84:4,5 & 12
Blessed: favored; blissfully happy; ecstatic - a state of
emotion so intense that one is carried beyond
rational thought.
God, by the nature of who He is, creates a feeling of
blessedness when we are with Him. When
we rely solely on Him and not our own devices we are blessed. When we place our full trust in Him to
provide a solution for our difficulties, we are blessed. We are the favored sons and daughters of the
Most High God if we seek forgiveness for our sins and walk in the way of
righteousness. And just what is the way of righteousness; it is following
God’s precepts and laws. We are declared
and seen by God as righteous once we have our sins forgiven. That is an
instantaneous event. To live a righteous
life is progressive. It takes the rest
of our lives to become what God intended us to be and still we fall short. We are to imitate Christ in all we think, say
and do. That is the way of
righteousness.
To dwell in God’s house is to be one of His obedient
children. Those who dwell in the house
of the Lord are ever praising Him and communing with Him. When difficulties come our way we are blessed
when we stand in the face of them in the strength of the Lord. God has never failed at anything He has ever
promised to do. This leads us to the
next blessing, the one who trusts in God.
We can place our trust wherever or in whomever we choose; however, those
whose trust is solely in the Lord and not external or peripheral things shall
be blessed.
In this season when the world celebrates a gluttony of
spending and fancifully adorned gifts, we who know the Lord have a different
mission. Sure, we partake of the
exchanging of gifts, but we should find it far more important to share time and
not only gifts with family. Our
blessings from God should be shared and not hoarded. The Lord shares with us from His bountiful
supply and wishes us to bless others with the blessings He has bestowed upon
us. His resources are endless, ours are
not. Be blessed, but share the blessings
with those who need a touch from God.
Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
