Jesus answered, “I am the
way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
The Hindu’s serve many gods and say every road leads up the
same mountain, implying that any way you choose to go to heaven is the right
way. The Buddhist’s believe in spiritual
enlightenment through right conduct, wisdom, and meditation. Muslims believe in Jesus but only as a good
teacher and not the Son of God. None of
them believe Jesus is the only way to heaven.
This is curious, for Jesus says of Himself that He is the only way to
heaven. Who’s right? Simply put, no one else claims to be God’s
Son. If Jesus is not who He says He is
then He’s a liar or insane or He really is the Son of God. It’s a choice. God gave us all a free will to believe what
we want to believe. He wants loyal, willing
followers, not slaves required to follow His every command. While the term slave is used in reference to
believers, it means that we willingly offer our undying servitude to a Creator
God who loves us and has extended forgiveness to us for every disobedient act
we have ever committed, both knowingly and unknowingly, against Him. No one else in the history of mankind has claimed
to have created man, allowed him to go the way He chooses, then bail Him out
when He sins against the very one who gave Him life.
Jesus is the way. No
other means of getting to heaven has been provided. You can do good deeds until the day you die
and if you don’t receive God’s gracious gift of forgiveness for sins committed
you will be cast into a lake of fire one day.
Why would a loving God do such a thing?
It’s not as if we haven’t been warned.
But why can’t I live my life the way I choose? Sleep in on Sundays, stay home and maybe
crack open the Bible once in a while to say I did. You can, but you won’t ever find out who God
is that way. That’s simply not the way it works. We are given the Bible, God’s holy word
written through Holy Spirit inspired men, as a spiritual roadmap. Without it we can never really fully
comprehend who God is or what is required of us. But I
thought there were no requirements in Christianity? Christianity at its root is not a religion,
but rather a personal relationship with the Creator of life. We love Him because He first loved us. We serve Him by choice. The things we do are not requirements per se,
but rather the things we do willingly because we love God.
If you seek absolute truth, empty your mind of anything that has come before regarding your impression of who God is or who we are to Him and let the scriptures tell the story. Without surrender there can be no real life. We are fooling ourselves to think otherwise. Jesus Christ is the only One true way to heaven. All other paths lead nowhere. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
