THE MISSION

“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.” John 1:17-18
We all know about the Ten Commandments; God’s law, also referred to as the  Law of Moses or the Mosaic Law. God gave two tablets to Moses, which contained 10 laws that the Jewish people were to adhere to.  Its purpose was to shine a light on man’s sin.  It also revealed his inability to live by such laws without breaking one of them.  It required perfection and nothing in this life is ever perfect except Almighty God.  Since the Jews proved time and time again their tendency was to disobey God’s law, the Lord provided a solution.  He took on human form as His Son Jesus Christ and administered grace and absolute truth.  In Christ we see the very character of God.
Christ had a mission.  He established his humanness by being born of a virgin, grew up in the home of God’s chosen vehicles, and grew to manhood in the midst of the people He was to save.  Since He didn’t appear to be anyone special His ministry was taken by the religious leaders the wrong way.  They perceived Him as a threat to all they had established in the form of a rigid set of laws that even they were incapable of following.  Christ, who was wholly God, had the closest relationship one could have with the Father.  He made known God’s character through His life.  This man, who was deemed as much more than just a man, stepped into time and provided a way to escape the consequences due sin.  Man had acquired, by virtue of his own lifestyle, a multitude of sins perhaps without even knowing it.  God in all His mercy and grace gave His Son to willingly die in our place. You see a payment was required for our sin.  We were and still are unable to pay our own way.  Nothing we can do will ever erase the sins we have committed.  Christ, who is God, shed His own blood to give man a second chance.
If you are on the fence regarding who Christ is or what God requires, understand this, while God is without question loving, patient and merciful, He will never wink at sin and some day will require that a payment is made for the life of sin that each man, woman and child has lived.  Without the blood of Christ, which cleanses all sin, there is no hope for mortal man.  For those who don’t know Him, think long and hard about what is being said here.  For those who do, live your life like Christ so that you provide a living, breathing example of God’s character (with the help of His Holy Spirit) to this sin sick and dying world. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
