“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2
With Paul’s aim being to preach the word of God wherever
Christ is not known, he set his sights on Spain, hoping to make Rome his home
base. Rome was a stronghold of
knowledge, humanism and worldliness with its citizens worshipping various
different gods. Paul arrived preaching
of the one true, living God. His
instruction to Romans regarding worldly living still rings true today.
The only way a person can ever discern the will of is to
stay fixed and focused on Christ and the word of God. Within its pages lie mysteries and nuggets of
truth that will unlock some of the greatest blessings the Lord has for us. If we don’t stay focused in such a manner the
temptations of the world may overcome us.
With a weakened foundation our spiritual life will begin to
crumble. God’s word is the mortar that
holds things all together.
The renewing of your mind comes from diving into the
scripture on a regular basis. The world offers us nothing new. Scripture offers truth that is fresh and new
every time you read it. Read it regularly, meditate on its meaning and reflect on
it during the day. Our minds should
regularly go to the things of God. He
should be our all in all, not someone we call on to fix our messes. Almighty God is our Heavenly Father. He created us all and reveals His will to
those who seek it.
Be
transformed and walk daily in the newness of life. Until next time, walk with the King and be a
blessing!
