“The Lord
Himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor
forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
Always remember and never forget
that the promises made in the Old Testament are for believers today as
well. We have been grafted into God’s
family that was originally intended for the Jews. Their rejection of Christ opened the door for
all non-Jews (gentiles). Therefore, this
promise to the nation of Israel is for us too.
Just as God provided a
pillar of smoke by day and a pillar of fire at night to lead the Israelites in
the way they should go, so the Lord Himself will lead us and be with us. We need to understand that the Lord is with
us wherever we go and will never leave us.
His Holy Spirit within us is His presence. You must be truly born again of the Spirit of
God to acquire His presence in your life.
Mere verbal acknowledgement is useless.
True salvation is evidenced by a changed life.
We are instructed to not be
afraid or discouraged. It is a natural
reaction to become stressed, worried, fearful and discouraged. Life throws at us
many unexpected situations that can send us into a tailspin if we let it. None of these events are a surprise to
God. He is never caught off guard or
perplexed by anything that transpires in our lives for He has either caused or
allowed it all to take place for a specific purpose. His thoughts are not our thoughts and His
ways not our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). God
is in complete control of all things at all times. This is why we have nothing to fear. He will protect, save or lead us through
depending on the circumstances we find ourselves in. Our responsibility is to know Him more each
day so that we might be able to emulate1
Christ in our daily lives. Until next
time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
1 To strive to equal or excel, especially through imitation. Note:
We are to strive to act and react to all
situations on a daily basis just as Jesus did.
