“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the
Lord.” Psalm 27:14
Mankind, as
a whole, has a very difficult time waiting for anything, let alone God. It’s such a troubling subject that I wrote a
whole book on how to do it from a biblical perspective1. This is troublesome for believer and
nonbeliever alike. No one likes to
wait. It appears to me that with each
new generation the problem multiplies.
‘Instant satisfaction’ is the phrase people live by nowadays and trying
to get anyone to wait is a fruitless endeavor.
Now compound the issue by asking folks
to wait on an unseen deity. It takes
both faith and trust to do that and some folks don’t seem to want to go thru
that exercise. Even Christians fall into
the trap of wanting everything now.
Waiting for an answer from God can be
painful. It isn’t painful to the Lord
for He knows the beginning from the end and knows exactly what He’s doing at
all times. It’s painful to us because we
don’t take the time to know God and His ways.
We must first know and then attempt to understand the way things work in
God’s economy. He knows what you
need. He sees what’s coming because He’s
either caused or allowed it to take place.
When we ask for something like additional finances, a job, a godly
spouse or something of equal importance we need to trust the Lord to provide
what we are seeking. The main criterion
is that it line up with His plan for your life.
He’s not going to give us our every wish and whim. The Bible does say He will give us the
desires of our heart (Psalm 37:4), but God wishes us to seek His will
and not our own so our desires line up with His.
Be patient and trust God. He has and will never fail you. Until next
time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
