Devo - Excerpt from my yet to be published 4th book ...

GOD MUST BE KING
“God had set up his creation so that He would be the ultimate ruler over it.  Once He created man he would allow him to rule over all living creatures.  As one reads through scripture it is God who is consistant in His rule and not man.  God’s Laws were composed to set His people Israel apart from the other nations.
Deuteronomy 5 is where Moses recites the Ten Commandments to the people of Israel from the stone tablets he receives from the Lord on Mount Sinai.  They had entered into a covenant or binding agreement with Jehovah God.  The Israelites had committed themselves to follow God’s Laws, yet repeatedly disobeyed them.  In 1 Samuel we find the people of Israel wanting a King to lead them, like the other nations.  This is not unlike who they were seeking in the time of Jesus. In their minds their deliverer would be a strong military minded king who would crush Rome under his heel.  Scripture is clear, God’s ways are not man’s ways. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
Whenever man insists on having his way, God allows it.  The purpose is not to harm man, but to teach him.  The believer must be attentive to the lesson.  It’s a gradual process we all must go through.  I know I grew and matured spiritually by going from “why is this happening to me” to  “what do You want me to learn from this”.  It took years of not understanding what was happening to me.  My frustration grew until I learned that each and everything that takes place in our life happens for a reason.  There is a purpose behind it.  A spiritual lesson to be learned.   This is how our faith and trust in God grows.  Through the trials and tribulations we experience.” rlkeller
