Matthew 22:36-39 - “Teacher, which is the most important
commandment in the Law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your
God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first
and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as
yourself.’”
What
Jesus is saying here is that if you keep these two most important commands it
will become natural for you to keep the other commandments. Love conquers all,
so if you dedicate your life to loving God and your neighbor as you love
yourself you will be pleasing in the sight of God.
Love
should be the catalyst that jump starts any spirit led life. Love conquers
fear, it conquers hate, it conquers doubt … love conquers all. “Three things
will last forever – faith, hope and love – and the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13) Others
can discern true love. They can see phony lip service from a mile away. It is
the one who exhibits a humble spirit and a pure heart toward the things of God
what will succeed in the name of the Lord. Success is relative. Success in the
world is far different than success in the spiritual realm, for it is that
success that will have eternal ramifications.
In
the end those who are serious about living for God will love what he loves and
shun that which is evil. Perfection is not required, only a willing, teachable
spirit and heart. Strive to be like Jesus in every aspect of your life. Do it
because you have the desire to do so, not for any eternal reward that may be in
the offing. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
