2 Corinthians 5:15 New Living Translation
“He died
for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for
themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for
them.”
One
of the burning questions Christians wrestle with is what God’s will for them
is. Here is one part of his will that is clearly defined in Paul’s letter to
the church in Corinth. Once redeemed with sins forgiven we are no longer to
live to please ourselves. We should be spending our lives pleasing Christ. So
are we slaves? In a manner of speaking ‘yes’, but not literally. It isn’t
mandatory that will live this way; however, our foremost heartfelt desire
should be to please the one who died to set us free.
Never
allow yourself to forget the monumental price that God willingly paid to
purchase you back from a sinful life. Christianity isn’t an exclusive club. His
forgiveness is available to all of mankind. The free choice the Lord gives us
to decide what to believe keeps millions bound in their chains. The sad thing
about that is they don’t have any idea they are restrained in any way. The
enemy makes their life seem pleasurable as they slowly sink deeper and deeper
into the abyss of disobedient sin.
The
odd thing for me is that so many people will try just about anything this world
has to offer, yet will turn a blind eye to the one resource that could lift
them out of the muck this world has become. In spite of all the rejection God
loves them still. He’s never stopped loving any one of us. Those who have
become born again have experienced God’s grace, mercy and love firsthand. Once
you take the time to really get to know God as much as he can be known to the
finite mind, the scenery altogether changes, or is it just that our perspective
has changed. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
