Romans 5:6 New Living Translation
“When we were utterly
helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.”
This is a very telling verse of
scripture in that it tells of our inability to save ourselves. That’s what
‘utterly helpless’ means here. We were weak and vulnerable. We were unprotected
and defenseless, but we were not abandoned.
To be ‘abandoned’ means to be forsaken but the scripture is clear, God
never fails or forsakes any of us who call ourselves his child.* [ see verses
listed at the end for examples ]
Time is completely irrelevant to
God. We think we know when the time is right, but we really have no clue. The
Creator of the entire universe and man’s first breath would have a much better
idea when the perfect time for anything would be. So it stands to reason that
since the God man Jesus came when he did, God the Father knew that was the
exact moment in time that his plan for man’s redemption should take place. He knows who will accept and who will reject
“the plan”, yet he died for us all in spite of that knowledge.
The Bible is very precise regarding
sin. The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Roman believers, stated
emphatically in Romans 3:23 New Living Translation … “For everyone
has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Someone had to
pay for the cost of our sin. God was the only one who could. Free of charge. We
should love God and those we know and even the ones we don’t know. And by all
means, love like you mean it. Until next time, walk with the King and be a
blessing!
